How to share Rivian camera footage
Updated October 2026
Original Rivian recordings are several large files per moment, which makes them awkward to send. Here are the practical ways to share footage, from a quick clip to a private link.
Trim to the part that matters
Most of a recording is usually nothing happening. In Overlook, mark where the interesting part starts and ends (the In and Out buttons on the timeline). Exports and share links can then cover only that part.
Option 1: a combined video
Export the cameras you choose into one MP4 with the date and time on screen (Overlook Pro). It plays anywhere, including phones and messaging apps, and is far smaller than all the originals. Good for friends, neighbors and social posts.
Option 2: snapshots
For a plate, a face for the police, or damage, a still is often enough. Pause on the frame and take a snapshot of one camera or all of them.
Option 3: a private share link
With Overlook Plus, a backed-up recording can be shared as a link. The person you send it to watches every camera in sync in their browser, on any device, without an account. You choose:
- whether the link covers the whole recording or only the marked part, and give it a title;
- when it expires, and whether they can download the original files;
- whether the location is shown (it’s hidden unless you turn it on).
You can see how many times each link was viewed and turn a link off at any time.
Before you post publicly
- Original files include your VIN and location; a combined export or a share link without location avoids sharing those.
- Think about the people and plates in the shot, and check local rules on sharing recordings.
Sharing for a claim? See using footage for insurance or the police.
